Get in Line Boy . . .

or (Mis)Adventure  . . . take 3
It's gonna be a great day to ride to Hugo's
Yeah . . . but TOAST . . . they don't have TOAST
Just eat your toast . . . let's go . . .

Yeah . . . OK, maybe only 7 seconds
We managed to cross the road before Steve flats
"I'm glad I never flat . . ."

OK already  . . .  OK
"Hugo," our new mascot
All seven of us made it to Hugo's
and Steve managed to keep air in his tires
Arriving at Patti's
We pick up Declan, who wonders:
"Just What is that thing comin' out of Russ' head?"
Shanie suspects Jim might have one too . . .
"I wish the publisher of this blog would get serious,
and just get back to work"
"I agree . . . Let's ride . . . "
Remember:  Always follow the rules of the road, except when you
aren't supposed to.  It is left to you to figure out where, and when

All about Tim

We weren't on our bike 5 minutes before Tim finds a friend . . .
He claimed to have met her at a recent race.
I don't believe him, neither did she . . .
Today's course . . . What are the odds we can follow the map?
Tim now asks for the camera, so he can take a pic
"where's the viewfinder?" he asks
(NOT KIDDING)
Rich almost dies laughing, as he realizes he will have to be the
photographer and navigator
YES . . .  That really is TIM . . . our TIM
helping with a mechanincal
I repeat:  TIM . . . our TIM!
To be fair:  Dave and Rick led the charge . . . and navigated
"What?  You say I need to shave my legs?  What?"
He appeared at mile 88 . . . ready and willing to kick my butt . . .
just like last year!
All I ever see of Jim . . .
After 107 miles . . . all smiles!

the Zombies sing about Dave

Well no one told me about (him) . . .  the way he'd ride
Well no one told me about him . . .  how many people fried
But it's too late to say you're sorry
How would I know why should I care
Please don't bother tryin' to find (him)
(He's) not there

Well let me tell you 'bout the way (he) looked
The way (he'd) act and the color of his (helmet)
(His) voice was loud and cool
(His) eyes were clear and bright
But (he's) not there
Dave's first day off . . . and he's a no show!

Mass Start

Mass Start (or: Today's (Mis)Adventures, take 2)
Yup, 10 of us showed on a beautiful Saturday morning
Allen, Deb, Peter, Russ, Eric, Tim, Dave, Shanie, Jim, Rich
Off we went
Generally behind these dudes . . .
One of whom uttered the words
"why do I want to ride with this group, when the sprints are won
by the old retired guy . . . ?"
When somewhat suddenly . . .
(Mis)Adventure
This might take awhile, might as well get comfortable
yeah . . . yeah . . .
I'll have plenty of practice today
(Mis)Adventure #2
"like I said, this might take awhile"
"I think I need just a little more practice"
(Mis)Adventure #3
No Worries . . . we'll wait

Why You Need to get a Gravel Road Bike

*** So You can enjoy riding with Allen and Russ
(ignore that they are on pavement)
*** So You can Enjoy a Beautiful Sunday Morning!

*** So You can ride through Water much deeper than it appears,
feeling like a 12 year old . . .
and narrowly avoiding the 16" hidden hole at the end
which would make you fall . . . and look really stupid
*** So you can let Russ pull you for 3.5 hours (thanks)
*** So you can hit a section of deep washboard while stowing your water bottle, while your left foot is simultaneously ejected from its pedal,
and somehow manages to get wedged between your rear tire and frame,
causing an immediate skid . . . which causes you to utter a few unmentionable words, as you somehow re right the bike, knowing now you are not going to crash . . . only to remember that your foot is still stuck in the bike, and you have no idea how you are going to get out . . .
and then somehow managing to do so * * *
