Today's (mis)Adventures

Another chapter in the Tim S flat tire saga; this time we were only about two miles out when his rear tire blew quite dramatically.....upon inspection, it appears that an earlier season rim deformity abraded the sidewall enough to allow the tube to blow out. Time for a new rim, methinks.

But we can't give him to much of a hard time - in case anyone missed it, there was a little 50K trail run last Saturday up at Lutsen:

Keeper of the Flame

Sorry Boys and Girls . . . I will be away until Friday . . . no news until Saturday . . . unless One of Our other fine, accomplished . . .  elder (senior) members . . . a wise sage . . . keeps the flame . . .
(ha!  And you thought I had an easy job!)

New Pavement and Trilliums

On Friday, Joe M and I rode Calvary west of Howard Gnesen (on new pavement), north on Rice Lake (on new pavement), east on Emerson (on new pavement to Arnold)......what a treat in our fair city. Today I discovered that it's that special time of year when the blossoming trilliums are carpeting the forest floor, especially along the Munger trail and on the far west end of Skyline Drive - though getting to Skyline is a bit of challenge with Beck's road closed.

Hope Rich doesn't mind that I slipped in for this post!

Tuesday Trouble

Yeah . . . Yeah . . . I know it's not Tuesday
Steve, thinking it is pretty funny that Mark, his friend of 35 years
has his second flat of the day . . .
reaches back to hand his buddy a beer
only to discover . . .
they are not real
He redeemed himself
by providing a great windbreak
. . .  look at the size of those calves . . .
Give me a break!

Saturday Morning Social Club

These Boys are Confused . . .
Proof that non-cycling activities lead to problems
(bummer)
Take a deep breath you guys . . . It's just gonna be a little bike ride
Don't let the (nearly) matching socks fool you . . .
Whenever this guys shows . . . it's gonna be trouble
One of these days, I'm gonna grab his banana
Shortly after this pic, the boys got organized
no more photos . . . or chatting . . . just full on
'cept this one . . .
Look at the size of this guys calves
Any bigger . . . he'll have to get an aero water bottle

A Sunday in Heaven

Shortly after this pic, I found myself at the corner of the Arnold Rd
and the Schultz Rd
Normally this would not be a problem . . .  however . . .  In this case . . .
I had 15 minutes to get to "the Church" on time . . . (My Fair Lady)
Did I make it . . . no . . . but . . . well . . . no . . .
I really have no idea how that happened . . .
Sadly, Joe had limited time, and had to leave us . . .
So . . . Russ and I made a Left . . . then another Left . . . and . . .
ended up riding gravel home
Although Dave S (which one?) did not . . nay . . . would not join us
At least his bike did
Westward ho!
Just enjoying the scenery
Until I saw this:
(hey:  How did that mailbox turn into a sign?)
Surely that can't apply to us
(indeed, it did not)
A fork in the road, but not enough time to take it
(Happy Mother's Day)
Next time . . .
My search for the mythical link between
the Southern portion of the HotN course, and the Fox Farm Rd
Enough said . . . get your bikes and join us

Strada Fango

I have no idea what Dave Wages is so happy about . . .
For a 58 mile, gravel bike race
Some riders chose to study the map in advance
Tim:  Why did you loan me a bike with a flat tire?
Rollin' again
Kari's goin' so fast
she's just a blur . . .
(never put your camera in your pocket with the lens next to your back)
A little gratuitous single track
Anybody got beer?
(that damn camera in the pocket again)
While some of us, chose to read the map later
While still others, choose to ignore the map entirely
and somehow turn a 58 mile race into a 70 mile race
Without mentioning any names (Rich)
This event was A BLAST!
EVERYONE MUST GO IN 2013!
(just don't follow Rich)

On the Road Again

Yes, You Too can be part of this silliness

 . . . and They are Gone . . .
We seem to always end up here . . .
