Do as you are told

Time to ride in the woods!
(for Rich:  pay special attention to "CAUTION" sign)

Riding on ice and snow . . . eating liverwurst

Burrito Union Party

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves
Good to see Sandra and Tim,
but we gotta get her to loose the "motor" from the motorcycle
OK . . . so my "letting the pictures speak for themselves did not last long"
- or -

OK . . . I agree with Jim . . .
I have no idea what Tim's doing, and probably don't want to know
Perhaps Tim was simply trying to explain to Sandra:
"It's a chip . . ."
yeah . . . I think we'll go with that
Dee and Paul chose to sit by themselves
Which made Mark see comfort from Lisa
Wayne wonders why we didn't just go to his house for beer . . .
Great to meet Dave's wife Kathleen (I hope it's not spelled with a "C!"
While Dave continues his search for the elusive "bubble gum martini"
It's just not at all clear what's going on here
But Rick is pretty damn impressed
Lauren thinks her dad looks dorky in that hat
But Jim thinks it's cute
No Jim:  Shaney is cute
She later assured me: "That is NOT a halo . . ."
Yeah Eric . . .one of these days we'll get around to talkin' about that bike
Somehow we got HJ off the ski hill!
Steve is on the lookout for snow . . . anywhere . . . even inside
Apparently Penny and Rick are lookin' too
Although it is true:  Mark rode his bike to the party (well done man!)
Lisa came to bring him home (hmmm . . .)

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

oops . . .

"Rich . . . I really can't believe you made me do this . . . "

The smile on Dave's face:  It's because there is only six more miles . . .
We rode in 35 mph winds . . . headwinds . . . that is
11 miles later, riding alone . . . disaster strikes
oops . . .  I guess I missed that ice . . .
crash at 20 mph . . . just a couple of holes in tights, knee and elbow.
YES:  I saw "stars"
Many thanks to my friend Joel Nelson, who just happened to be driving by.  The only car that stopped to see if I was OK.

Scenes from a Christmas Eve Ride

Is this SANTA bringing gifts?

Mark suspects there will be coal in his stocking
Liverwurst toast . . .
(more than enough said)

A shining star?

I'm really not sure what to say about this photo of Mary . . . the way the sun glints from her helmet.  If she were a piece of toast, we could sell her on Ebay.
(no, I did not really say that . . .)
HEY: Lighten up!  It's not that serious!
That's better!

What WAS he thinking?

OK everyone . . . just take a moment and look at the size of tires on Blondie (that would be Rich's bike)
the one between the guys in red . . . that is if you can find  the bike lost amongst the fat tires . . .
In the words of Todd McF:  "you brought a knife to a gun fight . ."
A big thanks to the boys for waiting for me . . . every two minutes
Rich was so slow, sometimes Todd had to lay down his bike and just wait
For those boys in Milwaukee who don't believe Joynes actually rides during the winter . . . of course this photo does not actually show him riding . . .
hmmmm . . . .
I think we need to get him a "helmet straightener"

Nice ride on a cold winter's day . . .

As always, one of the Dave S's leadin' the way
(I'm amazed at the number of Dave S's, I think I shall change my name to Dave S)
As always . . . Muggin' for the camera

Discovered today secretly training(?)

When questioned why he would so such a thing,
as not only running . . .  but "running inside on a treadmill,"
he came up with some bogus excuse about
being in the far North of Alberta.
(for those interested:   55°25′57″N 116°29′10″W )
Do we believe him?  I think not . . .
I leave it up to you to determine the penalty
for such a transgression.

Returning from Everest

Straight from Mt Everest, by way of Antarctica . . . before returning to his lovely family
This member of the famed, yet elusive and mysterious DBD,
joined us for short session of tutelage
Note the patch on his sleeve, and the funny lookin' things on his hands
(what are those anyway?)
Riding strong, but never straight
He soon crafted a noble excuse to return home, but not before he exclaimed:
"Man . . . that's a nice ride . . ."
Vernturing bravely onward and upward without our expedition leader
We soon arrived at our food cache . . . cleverly disguised as the
North Shore coffee shop(pe) "The Mocha Moose" at the Mocha Moose
Where Ron and Jim performed "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
After consumption of an exorbitant amount of caffeine
Tim and Dave led us back to camp at a blistering pace
Which left Hendricks scowling from pain and embarassment
(you would think we would have enough sense to not block the word "Duluth" on the sign)

The End of Gravel for 2011?

By now you know ne' er do well Hendricks ponied up and replaced the camera.
Sure, Thanksgiving day he took time to post a few pics . . .but he didn't bother
to post those from the last three weeks.  See . . . he is a ne'er do well.
No worries . . . I'll post 'em for him . . .

Yup . . . we were out on the gravel
Note the cool red wheels on Russ' bike

"Are we lost . . . yet?"  I've never been here before
oh wait a minute . . . yes I have . . .
"What's that thing down there?  Oh yeah . . . it's my wheel . . ."
Not sure who these guys were, but they took Sheree on a ride!

That musta been some hill . . . will ya look at the scowl on her face!
Note Dave's arm position while drinkin' coffee
Similar positioning on the part of Tim . . . interesting
ne'er do well Hendricks doesn't quite have it down.
Some bogus excuse 'bout a crash?
Dee and the Epic.  Rumor has it, this is the first time she's ridden clean up this hill!
Then the snow and cold came, and this guy didn't have the sense to stay inside
One can only wonder: What are these two orange bikes doin'?
