Duluth: 2 Ashland/Bayfield/Washburn: 1

Flats that is . . .
(give us a break Dave, we only made it to mile 3)
There was a nasty rumour of another, which would have tied the score
Fortunately for the "Duluth Contingent," Scott quited the crowd
and Duluth rode home with the title
Thanks to Jim; six from Duluth drove to Ashland early Sunday morning for the
4th or 5th Brother's Rim Century Ride.
After a bit of cold preparations,
we were ready to roll
a whole 12 miles to North Coast Coffee in Washburn
Where after a not so quick refuel
and a brief soliloquy from our leader
we were ready to ride
another whole 12 miles to Bayfield
where fortunately another coffee shop awaited our arrival
A journo from what could only have been the "Daily Planet"
cornered our fearless leader Dennis, who never short for verbiage
attempted to explain "just why it took 3.5 hours to traverse 24 miles"
Of course when coffee is involved, it is just not complicated
Fearing the crossing to the lake would be difficult, and the weather unpredictable
we prepared for the worst
The next 21 miles would prove difficult for Scott
who could only catch the leaders on the downhills
and was often reduced to drafting behind
Brian and Everett (Brian on bike, Everett in trailer)

(yes boys and girls, Brian really did this . . .
eight days after putting hatchet into his foot
OUCH!)
Interestingly, the next stop again involved food . . .

at Fish Lipps in Cornucopia
Our bikes waited patiently
as we prepared for the longest segment of our journey
These . . . yeah . . . these are not bikes
I hope I'm not violating some bike blog law
with these photos
let's be honest . . . they are cool and sexy
sorta like these guys at the Ino Bar
OK, perhaps not . . . let's try these
Yeah, I know . . . still not . . .
Wondering how he rides so fast
Lee checks out Scott's shoes
Sensing de"feat," Heidi Jo suggests the "Duluth Contingent"
get a head start
which was a good thing, since we were soon helplessly lost
Shanie and her iPhone to the rescue!
Somewhere just before
Jim sees a woman on a horse . . .
not this woman on this horse . . . but close enough
And when she actually smiles and talks to him
he becomes positively giddy
We finished at the South Shore Brewery
Thanks to Dennis for organizing this event
thanks to the riders from Ashland / Bayfield / Washburn and KC
Let's keep in touch and do this again
