Extra! Extra! Read All About It!!

DULUTH BOYS DO GOOD IN 2010
 "HECK OF THE NORTH!!"
We take our metaphorical hats off to a Mr Jeremy Kershaw for putting
on another spectacular event, the 2010 HECK OF THE NORTH,
the 5th and final race of the vaunted AGRS series.
Although the morning dawned cold and frosty, the heat was soon turned up as some 61 racers
took the start of what was to become a spectacular gravel ride through
the best roads Southern St Louis and Lake Counties have to offer.
The first break came at the "Brimson Connector."
At this point, the author was "dropped like a dirty shirt," and must rely
on easily fabricated and exaggerated race reports.
Riders came into the checkpoint "more strung out than last year (Kershaw)" with Ek in the lead.
All was well and sedate until the riders exited the Notorious
 NORTH SHORE TRAIL,
which saw our own Jason Buffington (Big Buff) clearly suffering from delusions lead several riders  up the Rossini Rd. (he claimed later the "error" was intentional
since 102 miles of gravel is simply not enough).
Calm set back upon the leaders until the feared "MOOSE MILE"
Reports say Anikin, Fraboni , Boyce other skilled riders were able to stay on their bikes, while most were reduced to "hike a bike."
As predicted, the race was decided on the hors categorie
Seven Bridges climb. Big Yellow Steam rollers, barricades, soft sand and other obstacles
were simply no match for these riders.
The pace so fast and furious, that our own CHARLIE FARROW
claimed not to have seen said Big Yellow Steam Roller (even though it blocked all buy 18" of the roadway)
Nearly within sight of the finish, after 100 miles of racing, it is reported that Fraboni flatted, only to
see a possible win slip by.
FINAL RESULTS:
1: Jake BOYCE (Duluth boy)
2) NIKOLAI ANIKIN (transplanted Duluth Boy)
3) TIM EK (Duluth boy)
When hearing of the podium sweep, our very own Hendricks in a state of glee, chose to attempt a never before, and still never completed aerial maneuver while in a fast moving paceline
The results speak for themselves;

A SPECIAL THANKS TO:
JOHN and CORY for getting me home safely
and A BIG THANK YOU TO LIZ BUFFINGTON for sharing her
home for the post race party.
(the mysterious DBD has redeemed itself;  Mallory)
