I wouldn't normally razz anyone for not making a ride,
but today was simply FAB!
Weather was perfect, route and roads perfect (Dave vindicated at last!)
The way DAVE and I saw it, everyone had a reasonable excuse
(family matters)
except Russ who was riding "some other kinda bike"
Just Dave and Rich headed off this morning at 7:00 under clear blue skies
Lots of talk about riding gravel, it was difficult not to turn on the
Fox Farm Road (see "The Eki Chronicles" )
I'm sure as fall approaches, this blog may be retitled "Duluth (gravel) Road Cyclists!
We just had to stop to admire the scenery
We arrived Hugo's Bar / General Store in Brimson just after 9:00
Thanks Laurie for looking after us
We probably could have sat here all day
Stopped in the old railroad town of Wales
(Dave had too much coffee, not Rich! A first!)
After miles of high speed downhill, we couldn't pass up
Kayla and the MOCHA MOOSE
After 70+ miles . . . this is a VERY welcome sign
I'm referring to the flag . . .
COOL . . . the last 20+ miles will be with the wind.
Evidently, Kayla put something in Dave's Coffee
Because he became:
A RIDER ON FIRE
Over the last 40 miles today, all I saw was
Except when Dave caught Mark (Grand Rapids)
then all I saw
(actually, blue was usually in front of orange)
Funny, this was not "our" Mark, but all Mark's must wear Orange?
It was a GREAT RIDE . . . DON'T MISS THE NEXT ONE
We finished by riding up the hill with ROSS,
he shoulda been there, and he knew it.
MONDAY, 6:00 am at "the CHURCH!"
